Welcome to Class Neptune! We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready for a busy and exciting year ahead.
We are keen to promote a love of reading and the children will be reading in school every day. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday they will take part in Reciprocal Reading – discussing and reading a shared book in a group. Friday will be our Guided Reading lesson when we read a class text to focus on comprehension skills. On Wednesdays, I will be checking how each child is getting on with their own reading book making sure they are happy with their books and are reading regularly at home. Children who have read at home at least four times a week will be awarded a merit.
Homework will be given out on a Thursday and needs to be handed in by Tuesday morning. This will usually be Frog Maths and a Spelling activity, but may be some research or topic related work on occasions.
We have two sessions of PE timetabled usually on a Thursday and Friday. Class Neptune will also be going swimming later in the school year. Please ensure that PE kits are in school at all times as there may be other opportunities for sporting activities during the week.
Water Bottles and Snacks
Children need to have a clearly-named water bottle in school each day. As lunchtime is slightly later for KS2, a healthy snack for playtime is a good idea.
If you have any questions or concerns, please drop in to see us or call in at the office.
