Class Teacher: Mrs Ballinger
TA: Mrs Harding
Welcome to Year 3! We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready for a busy and exciting year ahead.
We are keen to promote a love of reading and the children will be reading in school every day. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday they will take part in Reciprocal Reading – discussing and reading a shared book in a group. Friday will be our Guided Reading lesson when we read a class text to focus on comprehension skills. On Tuesdays, I will check how each child is getting on with their own reading book making sure they are happy with their books and are reading regularly at home. Children who have read at home at least four times a week will be awarded a merit and have their name put into our reader's raffle.
Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and needs to be handed in on Tuesday morning. This will usually be Frog Maths and a Spelling activity, but may be some research or topic related work on occasions.
We have two sessions of PE timetabled but will require kit in school every day so that we can be flexible in our timetabling. We will be taking part in the 'daily mile' on days we do not have a PE lesson, to encourage being active and making healthy choices.
Water Bottles and Snacks
Children need to have a clearly-named water bottle in school each day. As lunchtime is slightly later for KS2, a healthy snack for playtime is a good idea.
Our classroom has a lovely outdoor space and is close to the pond so we will be taking care of these spaces.
If you have any questions or concerns, please drop in to see us or call in at the office.
